Menasha officials are sharing how you can make the biggest impact, including opportunities to volunteer and donate needed items.

How can I volunteer my time? 

Can I donate food or drink?

• Anyone with a food truck, prepared food, or drinking water who would like to support the response should report to the north parking lot of the former UW–Oshkosh Fox Cities campus.
• All bottled water, emergency supplies, and other donations should be dropped off at the campus entrance next to the Barlow Planetarium.

What’s the best route to get there?

• Use the Highway 441 Oneida Street exit, then:
• Travel south on Oneida Street
• Turn west onto Midway Road
• Enter the campus donation area
• Return east on Midway Road
• Travel north on Oneida Street to return to Highway 441
• Please follow posted signs and staff directions.

Can I support pets/animals that are impacted? 

• The Fox Valley Humane Association is offering support to any pet owners in need.
  • Offering food, litter, blankets, dog beds, bowls.
  • Dogs can be temporarily boarded on-site, and the organization is working to secure fosters for cats due to their current quarantine. Please call 920-733-1717 for animal housing assistance.
  • Found pets from our service area can be brought to the shelter, if you have lost your pet please give us a call at 920-733-1717 with a description or visit the Stray Pets Page.
• They’re also collecting donations of dog and cat food, cat litter, and other pet supplies.

MENASHA, Wis–The city of Menasha and the Winnebago County Emergency Management Department is setting up a volunteer and donation center for tornado damage relief. The former U-W Oshkosh-Fox Cities campus will be the staging area for those looking to provide assistance, food, and water supplies.  Portable restrooms and hand-washing stations will also be set up.

Those coming to the volunteer and donation center are required to enter Menasha along Oneida Street, then turn onto Midway Road and enter the campus via the Barlow Planetarium driveway.

The center should be up and running by noon today (Tuesday).

MENASHA, Wis–The city of Menasha establishes a curfew due to tornado damage.  No one will be allowed on the streets between 10pm Monday night and 5am Tuesday morning.  Only those whose jobs require them to travel will be allowed out.

(MENASHA, WI — Menasha Police advise drivers to avoid entering the city limits to aid emergency responses and clean-up.

The following statement was issued Monday afternoon:

(MENASHA, WI) — The City of Menasha has issue the Mayor’s office.  It reads as follows;

MENASHA, Wi. –Severe weather moved through the Fox Valley Monday afternoon, leaving behind significant damage in the area.

A severe thunderstorm, which was then upgraded to a tornado-warned storm by the National Weather Service impacted areas of Appleton, Menasha and Neenah.

Reports of damage include downed trees, power lines and damaged rooftops.

Officials in all three communities are asking residents to avoid traveling in the affected areas unless absolutely necessary.

The City of Appleton says all departments have been fully mobilized in response to the storm. Crews are prioritizing emergency calls and working to restore access to roads wherever possible.

The Neenah Police Department, along with the Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue Department, Neenah Department of Public Works, and public safety partners, are also actively responding to areas impacted by severe weather.

In the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center, during a two-hour period, their telecommunicators answered a 911 call approximately every 15 seconds.

Officials say damage assessments are ongoing.

MENASHA, Wis. — Emergency crews are responding to damage and hazards after severe weather moved through the City of Menasha on Monday afternoon.

The Menasha Police Department, along with the Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue Department, Department of Public Works, and other public safety partners, are actively responding to areas impacted by severe weather.

Officials are asking for the public to avoid traveling to Menasha unless it is an emergency.

Traffic congestion, downed trees, power lines, debris, and blocked roadways are preventing emergency responders and utility crews from reaching affected areas.

The department shares that their first priority is the safety of our residents, visitors, and responding personnel.

Residents are asked to:

• Stay away from affected areas unless absolutely necessary.
• Avoid downed power lines and treat all utility lines as energized.
• Do not drive around barricades or enter areas closed by emergency personnel.
• Limit non-emergency travel to allow first responders and utility crews access to impacted areas.
• Call 911 for emergencies.

OSHKOSH, Wis–Oshkosh City Manager Rebecca Grill is taking a leave of absence. Common Council member Paul Esslinger posted on his Facebook page that Grill has fallen ill and will be away from her position for “awhile”.

According to a newsletter posted on the city’s website, Transportation Director Jim Collins and Community Development Director Sara Rutkowski will take over Grill’s duties in her absence.
