According to TVLine, MTV’s Punk’d is getting a reboot but with a bit of a twist. 20 Episodes of the “reinvented” version of Punk’d have been ordered and will air in 10 minute episodes via a new streaming platform called ‘Quibi‘ which describes itself as “quick bites of captivating entertainment, created for mobile by the best talent, designed to fit perfectly into any moment of your day.”
The original series ran from 2003 to 2007 and was hosted by Ashton Kutcher. No word on if Ashton will return or if a new host will be selected.
According to reports, the 1990’s game show where singles searched for a date, Singled Out has also been ordered in a 20 episode package set to stream on Quibi.
In a statement, MTV President Chris McCarthy said:
“This deal builds on MTV’s strategy of reinventing our iconic shows to reach new audiences on pioneering new platforms like Quibi. We are excited to be working with Jeffrey, Doug and the Quibi team to reinvent Punk’d and Singled Out for a new generation of fans.”
MTV is currently in the process of updating and rebooting a slew of originals, along with the launch of Facebook Watch in 2 weeks. Watch launched the reworked MTV’s The Real World, and goes live on June 13.
