The hospital gown that Kurt Cobain wore during one of Nirvana’s most infamous performances is now up for auction. The show was their performance at the Reading festival in 1992. The show ended up being the last show Nirvana ever played in Great Britain and has since been released as a live CD/DVD.
According to a letter authenticating the item, it was given to the consignor by Courtney Love during a vigil at the Seattle Center a few days after Cobain’s death, from a bag of Kurt’s clothes she’d brought. The recipient recalls when Love gave it to her,
“She then cried on my shoulder for a while. I tried to say something reassuring about his love for her and she pushed me away, insisting that he only loved [their daughter] Frances…The entire incident was sad. And weird. And it blew my teenage mind.”
The auction at RRAuction.com, will end March 14th.
