2001 was a life changing year in American history as the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks took place and transformed the world. In the wake of 9/11. the 2001 Clear Channel memorandum recommended banning over 100 songs from radio, including EVERY SINGLE SONG by Rage Against the Machine.
2001 was marked by more than 9/11 as it was the beginning of a new world of technology with the first generation iPod being released after being designed under the code name ‘Dulcimer’. Pizza Hut paid the Russians $1 million to transport a pizza to the International Space Station and a Super Bowl commercial cost 2.1 million (2019 Super Bowl Ad price ranges from $5.1 – $5.3 million).
Enter in the Mississippi boys 3 Doors Down with their hit single ‘Loser.’ The song was anything but its name as it spent a record 21 weeks at the number 1 position on the Billboard US Mainstream Rock charts… an all time chart record. ‘Loser was released in July of 2000 as the second single from their debut album ‘The Better Life’ and lands this week in 2001 at #1.
