You know your career is going pretty well when you get a thumbs up from both the lead singer of Metallica and the lead singer of Rage Against the Machine. The band is Turnstile a hybrid hardcore band with a pop sensibility. Don’t let that last part scare you; they are as punk as any punk band is in 2026, and it’s working. They’ve amassed millions of followers and fans around the world, and now you can count those two legends among them.
Rage Against the Machine singer Zach De La Rocha recently attended an exhibit of punk and hardcore photographer Glen E. Friendman in Barcelona, Spain, where the music website Binaural asked him about Turnstile taking the baton from Rage.
“It’s interesting to see how this style is resurging. I don’t know if it will have the same impact, but, once again, there are a lot of kids who are discovering it for the first time. And they are doing so through their first experience with bands like Turnstile. Afterward, they start discovering Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Negative Approach, The Clash… So these bands occupy a really interesting space, like a sort of bridge. I hope that through them, people look back at the original groups.”
Then the Metallica frontman James Hetfield went on the SiriusXM show Riff Life to say.
“We wanted to get them on tour, and they said, ‘No. They’re doing good on their own already. What a vibe they bring. Go see them play if you can. They sound great on their records and recordings, but if you see them live, you totally get it. We’ve hung out with them a bit. Super cool guys, super fun. They’ve got a gal in the band now, which is fun.”
Even more proof how well your band is doing when you can say no to going on tour with Metallica. For your listening pleasure is the playlist from YouTube of their latest album Never Enough.
