NIAGARA, Wis. — The state Department of Justice is investigating an officer-involved death in Marinette County.
A Niagara police officer tried to stop a vehicle in the city around 1:10 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver reportedly sped off, swerving into oncoming traffic and hitting a commercial vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was hurt.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave per the Niagara Police Department’s policies.
