WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI — A Wolf River man charged in the double-homicide of his parents in 2023 withdraws his no contest plea in that case. The attorney for Erik Metzig says that’s based on new allegations of sexual assault. Metzig claims he’d been the victim of repeated sexual assault, though those claims have not been verified. Erik Metzig sent a handwritten letter October 18, 2024 to Winnebago County Court claiming he’d been sexually assaulted. That was done 12-days before a scheduled sentencing hearing. David and Jan Metzig, owners of the Union State Cheese Factory, were found in their Wolf River home dead from gunshot wounds.
