Mark Tremonti (Creed/Tremonti/Alter Bridge guitarist) stopped by the Razor Studio on Tuesday, July 16th to discuss the kick-off of the Creed Reunion tour. In discussing the reunion of the band, Tremonti talked about how everything came together
“We had talked about it before COVID. I can’t remember if Scott called me or if I called him. But um, we had just done a Ship Rocked Cruise with Alter Bridge and I was like ‘That was pretty fun. I think it would be great to get Creed to do a cruise and reintroduce the band that way’ and Scott was all about it and then COVID happened. And once COVID happened, we all had to catch up with our current projects and Alter Bridge came out with a record and Tremonti came out with a record. Both those records got squashed touring-wise because of COVID. So long story short, this has been a long time in the making.”
He continued:
“It was great to get back in a room and play these songs for the first time together and it sounded just like it did back in the early days. And when we played these songs for the first time on the boat, seeing grown men and women cry because they hadn’t heard these songs. Hearing the stories of ‘yeah I went to see this show with my father who’s no longer with us and this is such an emotional night for me,’ those kinds of things are all, ya know, I expect to see a lot of that on this coming up tour.”
Creed kick off their 2024 Summer of ’99 Tour tonight at the Resch Center. The tour will run through September 28th with support from 3 Doors Down, Daughtry, Switchfoot, Tonic, Big Wreck, and Finger Eleven.
