OSHKOSH, WI –Just weeks after losing a bid for re-election to Winnebago County Circuit Court-Branch II, attorney LaKeisha Haase is elected to fill a vacant seat on the Oshkosh Common Council. Haase was one of seven candidates interviewed by the common council on Tuesday. 11 people sought the nomination, though three, Vicky Redlin, Mark Showers and Christopher Hibben withdrew their applications prior to the regular council meeting. Indira Pulakandum was unable to attend the interview session. The council seat opened when Matt Mugerauer was elected Oshkosh Mayor on April 4. In her interview, Haase cited her 26-year residency in Oshkosh, her law practice, her time on the bench and her ability to weigh all opinions in making tough decisions. Haase was elected on a 5-1 vote among council members. Immediately after the vote, Haase was seated on the council and took part in the regular council meeting.
