Jelly Roll’s music borrows from multiple genres of music. He raps, he sings country music and the guy can rock with the best of them. Last Sunday’s CMT country music awards show featured more rock music than any pop-based music show has done in recent memory. Jelly won three awards, performed his new single “Need a Favor” and did it all with that thankful Jelly Roll spirit that can inspire all of us.
He posted this on his social media Monday morning.
“REAL MUSIC FOR REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL PROBLEMS….. like every young child that dreamed of being a musician I would watch awards and then go to my room and practice in front of my mirror what it would be like to be there. Even all through my adulthood I’ve watched every award show wondering what it would be like to be there. I would sit at home and analyze every movement , every picture , every performance and day dream myself in that place.”
“
All of that and you could feel it in his performance of “Need a Favor”
Last year I had a conversation with Jelly Roll on Cutter’s Rockcast that made me an immediate fan.
