Alt-pop superstar Billie Eilish closed out an extensive year of touring this week with a three-night stand at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. At Thursday night’s finale, Eilish welcomed a surprise guest: Dave Grohl sat in for an acoustic performance of Foo Fighters’ “My Hero.”
When Grohl was brought onstage, he talked about watching Eilish perform at the 2022 Grammy Awards wearing a Taylor Hawkins tee shirt following his passing, and how much that meant to each member of the Foo Fighters.
“Earlier this year, all of the Foo Fighters and our families gathered together at my house to watch the Grammys. When Billie came out for her performance in a Taylor Hawkins tee shirt, the room was filled with real tears of love and gratitude.”
Grohl also previously lauded Eilish as the future of rock ‘n’ roll, saying in a 2019 interview, “The same thing is happening with her that happened with Nirvana in 1991. People say, ‘Is rock dead?’ When I look at someone like Billie Eilish, rock and roll is not close to dead!”
