The American Music Awards took place this past Sunday (Nov. 20), showcasing many different musical acts, and featuring a ghostly winner.
The AMAs have been known to be more pop-leaning over the years, often with rock acts that cross over to pop frequently taking home the rock awards. So when it came to the inaugural Rock Album category, it was a welcome sight to see Ghost in the running. It was an even more welcome sight to see them take home the award.
Their album Impera, which was released earlier this year, was one of 2022’s highest charting rock albums. Despite it’s commercial success, it was in a category for Rock Album that included Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Machine Gun Kelly and Red Hot Chili Peppers, thus seeming like it would be passed over. However, fans came through and voted in large numbers to ensure Ghost’s victory.
Ghost frontman Tobias Forge attended the ceremony, without his ghostly makeup, and gave some comments on the band’s big win.
