They’re gonna come.
After months of speculation that pop-punk legends Blink-182 would reunite to create new music, the time has come. Today (October 11) it was announced that estranged guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge, who has not been in the band for nearly 10 years, will join bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker on a new album as well as a world tour.
When DeLonge and blink became professionally estranged in 2015, Hoppus and Barker recruited Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba in his place. They released the albums California (2016) and Nine (2019) with Skiba. DeLonge had hinted at his blink-182 comeback earlier this year through his Instagram bio, suggesting his return was only a matter of time. Over the summer, Skiba said he wasn’t sure he was still in the band.
The trio are planning on releasing their first single “Edging” on October 14th. No official details regarding the new album have been released as of now.
