With their 18th, yes 18th! number one single Shinedown once again is owned by themselves the record for the most number one songs in the history of the mainstream rock chart. Their latest is called “Planet Zero” proving all Shinedown does is write hit songs. There are also two debuts into the top 21 this week, one from mainstays Papa Roach and the other from a band that was just announced as the opener on a few of this spring’s Knotfest Roadshow, Wage War.
As for our guest, it’s a man who doesn’t know the meaning of writing songs in a certain genre. Jelly Roll has been a rapper, a country music singer and now he’s nearing the top 10 of the rock charts with the song “Dead Man Walking.” Sometimes good songs know no boundaries and if you think this is a random one off rock song, you’d be wrong. Jelly Roll explains all as this week’s guest and on Cutter’s Rockcast.
