Trivium, who just got done with “The Metal Tour of The Year” and will release their new album In The Court of The Dragon on Friday October 8th, have released a new video for the song ‘The Phalanx”. The song was originally a demo for a tune on the Shogun album released in 2008 but was shelved until the writing began for the new album. According to Matt Heafy he knew this song would fit on the new album best because of the style of songs being written for it.
“Once we knew the album was going in a more epic, proggy direction, I immediately thought of the song and pitched the idea to the others. With a few minor changes to some chorus parts, a brand middle section, and the orchestrations from Ihsahn, ‘The Phalanx‘ was reborn. It’s got a lot of new and old riffs and I think you should dig this if you liked ‘Shogun‘.”
Matt Heafy spoke with Decker about the new album, their airplane hanger and his crazy busy life on Twitch.
