A COVID-19 outbreak among players and staff will cost the Wisconsin Badgers their football game in Nebraska on Saturday.
The UW Athletic Department says the football program will be shut down for seven days due to a COVID-19 outbreak. School officials said athletic director Barry Alvarez and chancellor Rebecca Blank made the decision in consultation with Big Ten officials.
Six players–including quarterbacks Graham Mertz and Chase Wolf–along with six staff members–including Head Coach Paul Chryst–have tested positive.
Saturday’s game will not be made up.
Big Ten protocols call for players testing positive to remain away from the team for 21-days.
