Five Finger Death Punch have officially confirmed what has been rumored for months… guitarist Jason Hook is out and Andy James is in.
The band took to their social media pages late last night to announce the switch:
Guitarist Andy James (ex-Sacred Mother Tongue/Fields Of The Nephilim) who has been filling in for Hook while on tour since 2019, has been announced as the replacement. James appears on “Broken World” (watch below) which is one of the 5 previously unreleased tracks on the forthcoming greatest hits album Decade of Destruction, Volume 2 due October 23rd.
Rumors have been spreading for months that Jason Hook is no longer a member of Five Finger Death Punch. On October 11th, Hook shared a video on Instagram while on his honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas with the tag “End of an Era”. In the video, which was deleted shortly after being posted, Hook said:
“I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to all of the fans of Five Finger Death Punch for all of messages that you’ve been sending me about you know what. I’ve kinda been issued a gag order, so I’m not saying anything. But I’m very excited about the things I’m working on and I’m looking forward to sharing them with everybody.
And when the time is right there will be a mutually agreed on press release between me and my guys and that’s it.”
In the video he also said that he has eight projects on the go and that he’s excited about every one of them:
“I’ve got tons of new songs that I’m gonna release and I want people to hear them. I don’t expect to make money, I don’t expect to climb the top of charts. I didn’t care about any of that… the music business is sort of in the toilet, so it’s not really about that anymore. It’s just about getting off on it and getting fired up and creating something that’s exciting for me and hopefully translates to be exciting for you.”
