Attorneys argued over the statewide mask order, and whether Governor Evers has the authority to put it in place.
The governor included it in new health emergencies he issued over the summer.
The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty filed a lawsuit in Polk County on behalf of three opponents of the mandate. The group wants a judge to block the mask rule.
WILL Attorney Anthony LoCoco is asking the court not to minimize the harm to their clients. He argues it’s an invasion of their personal liberty, and it’s been going on for a long time now.
State Attorney Colin Hector says the new orders were issued during different situations. He says it was based on a distinct change in circumstances that are presenting extraordinary dangers to the people of Wisconsin.
St. Croix County Judge Michael Waterman says he’ll make a ruling “very, very quickly.”
