A state expert thinks there are more undiagnosed cases of coronavirus across Wisconsin, because of the high percentage of positive tests.
Over the past week, about 20 percent have come back positive.
Dr. Ryan Westergaard of the Department of Health Services says they know some people don’t get symptoms, so they never get tested, but can still spread the virus.
He calls the recent case totals a “tip of the iceberg” of what’s really out there. But Westergaard says it’s hard to estimate how big the actual total would be, compared to the number of confirmed cases.
Public health officials have said they’d like to see around five percent of tests come back positive.
