More people are voting by absentee ballot and at least one clerk is concerned about the number of incomplete ballots her office is seeing.
Neenah Clerk Stephanie Cheslock says they usually get requests for about 1,000 absentee ballots but they mailed out about 6,000 in mid-September. She says about 20 or 30 returned ballot envelopes weren’t signed by voters and they could be rejected. Cheslock says everyone needs two signatures and an address on the outside envelope to be considered legitimate.
Cheslock says they try to reach out to each voter to let them know their ballot won’t be counted. She says that’s harder to do as it gets closer to election day.
