The Smashing Pumpkins released two new songs from their upcoming double album Cyr, available on November 27th. The new tracks, “Confessions Of A Dopamine Addict” and “Wrath“, can be heard below.
“Confessions Of A Dopamine Addict” is featured on the second episode for The Smashing Pumpkins’ five-part animated series, In Ashes, written and created by William Patrick Corgan. Episode one, “As The Crow Flies” features the song “The Colour Of Love” and serves as the official music video for the song. Episode two, “Inspirations, Aspirations” is the official music video for “Confessions Of A Dopamine Addict”. Both videos can be seen below.
The music video for “Cyr” was released in August and can be seen below.
The band’s frontman Billy Corgan was in charge of production on the songs and said:
“‘Cyr‘ is dystopic folly. One soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time. To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith.”
The video for “Cyr” was filmed remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic by director Linda Strawberry, and she said:
“This is a goth fever dream of pent up emotion – an artistic visual release attempting to create a momentary escape from the emotional black cloud hanging over all of us this year. A dark seduction filmed in quarantine at a social distance.”
