All That Remains vocalist Philip Labonte announced that the band has starting the writing process for a new album, which will follow up 2018’s Victim Of The New Disease. Labonte said they hope to have it out early next year, with the expectation that it will come out in spring.
This will be the first album that All That Remains will release since the death of guitar player Oli Herbert, which police are still investigating. Labonte said that Oli was a big part of the writing process, so it will probably sound a bit different, but guitarist Mike Martin and him also did a lot of writing, so it won’t be that different. Jason Richardson has replaced Oli’s position in the band.
The band has been working remotely during the pandemic, using Pro Tools recording software to write songs for the new album. Labonte said that communicating the thought process behind a song can be difficult when your not in the same room. He added that they only have one rule – a “no-no” rule, where you can’t say no. The thought process behind that is that even if the idea that is shared isn’t one they are going to use, it might inspire a better idea that will work for the band.
During the pandemic, Phillip Labonte has been busy with his Twitch stream. He post a couple teasers on Instagram showing him singing what what you can expect from his stream. Those teasers can be seen below.
