Evanescence released their latest song, “The Game Is Over” on July 1st and over the 4th of July weekend the debuted the official music video for the track. The band recorded themselves in quarantine using their phones to get the video for the song. According to bassist Tim McCord:
“This was by far and away the most difficult video I’ve ever been a part of, emotionally. In order to capture the raw emotion of what life really is for us these days, I had to get to some really dark places. I hope we can all view this video and heal together.”
When asked about the song, Evanescence singer Amy Lee, said:
“This song is about being sick of the facade. The disguises we wear for others to make them feel comfortable, the inside feelings being so different than what we show on the outside to fit within the boundaries of what’s socially acceptable, or what’s not going to make you unpleasant or too ‘weird’ to be around.”
The song will be on the band’s upcoming album, The Bitter Truth, which will be released in 2020. Evanescence has decided to release the songs track by track over the course of the year while they are working on it.
