A grant could help the City of Appleton cover costs to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
Finance Director Tony Saucerman says they can get a little more than $1.2 million from a federal grant. Right now, the city has asked for about $850,000 in reimbursements. Unless things get worse, Saucerman doesn’t think the city will come close to using all of the money that’s available.
The city can be reimbursed for things like overtime pay, and the cost for personal protective equipment.
Saucerman says some finance directors around the state are frustrated by the narrow scope of the grant. He says it can’t be used to offset lost revenues.
