During the last three months of the school year, staff in the Appleton district delivered about 9,000 educational packets to elementary students.
Superintendent Judy Baseman says that’s one of the ways they adjusted to the school shutdown, and at-home learning. She says they also provided more than 1,800 computers to students, and about 400 hotspots to families without Internet access.
Baseman reports the district handed out more than 185,000 meals to students at various schools, after the buildings closed. That’s an average of about 3,300 a day.
