Gas prices in the Appleton area are up about 25 cents from this time last month.
AAA spokesman Nick Jarmusz says they’re still about 85 cents lower than at this time last year. The average in the Appleton area is around $1.82 a gallon.
He expects prices will continue to increase, if there’s more demand.
Jarmusz thinks there are two reasons for the recent trend of higher prices. Over the weekend, OPEC voted to continue a production limit. He says in the U.S., some facilities are shutting down to prepare for the tropical storm season.
