The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Appleton is going in the wrong direction.
City Health Officer Kurt Eggebrecht says they’re seeing an increase, and their contact tracers are spending more time on each case. He says they’ve seen that trend, since the state’s “safer at home” order was thrown out by the state Supreme Court.
Eggebrecht says people are socializing more, and spending time with people they haven’t seen in a while.
After reporting seven new cases on Saturday, there are now 123 in the city. Four of them got it through community spread, and one caught it from a known contact. The two other investigations aren’t done.
Seventy-nine of the city’s cases are in isolation, and 41 have recovered.
