Every registered voter in Oshkosh will be asked if they want an absentee ballot for the the next two elections.
The city council voted last night to send a form offering an absentee ballot as long as the city remains under a public health emergency. City Manager Mark Rohloff says the city has about 35,000 registered voters. Rohloff says in-person voting isn’t being eliminated. He thinks people will be safer if some opt to vote by mail so people at polling places can be spread out.
He thinks the plan will cost taxpayers about $100,000. He says registered voters will receive a notice in the mail asking if they want an absentee ballot sometime after June 8th. Ballots would then be mailed out for the August 11th partisan primary and the November 3rd general election.
