Businesses in the Oneida Nation can reopen Friday.
Tribal Chair Tehassi Hill says they need to meet the safety guidelines set by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
He says they were forced to lay off or furlough about 1,400 of their 2,700 workers. He says they’re suspending payments for housing programs and utilities, because those employees are out of work through no fault of their own.
The Oneida Nation’s “safer at home” order was originally going to run until June 11th.
The tribe plans to open the Oneida Casino locations on May 26th. Only the slot machines will be available at first.
