Once a month, Focus on Veterans gives the opportunity to hear from local veterans, hear from veteran organizations or businesses that support our veterans. Today we’re hearing from Joe Miller, an Army veteran, local business owner and member of several military service organizations. Joe shares more about what it’s been like as a business owner during COVID-19 and also tells us how veterans are checking in with one another during this time.
The Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program with Riverview Gardens provides a fresh box of organic produce each week for 12 weeks during the summer. We’re learning more about the program and how they’re also providing meals for families in need through Feeding America, from Angie Bleck the Director of Development Strategies at Riverview Gardens.
Tell Me Something Good: Youth Go recently received $5,000 through the COVID-19 Community Relief Fund. With that grant money, the organization decided to provide Youth Go families with a Food Share basket filled with hygiene products, activities and food. Kelly Hicks, the executive director of Youth Go shares how they’ve given out a total of 227 baskets to help feed 1,086 people so far.
