Volbeat released a new animated video for “Leviathan”. The video was directed and animated by Steven Mertens and is based on a painting by Karsten Sand. The painting originally appeared in the artwork for Rewind, Replay, Rebound.
Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen says he sings the song from the imagination of a young boy looking out of his bedroom window and sees that the world can be an evil place. The boy believes he can call up the sea monster, Leviathan, to clean up all the bad things.
“Leviathan” is the latest single off the band’s seventh studio album, Rewind, Replay, Rebound.
In April, Volbeat restarted their “Official Bootleg” series by releasing a live version of “Leviathan” recorded at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany. That video can be seen below.
