Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson of Oshkosh says he prays that a cure or treatment for COVID-19 will be discovered soon.
Johnson is discouraged by criticism of drugs promoted by the Trump administration. He finds it frustrating that the use of hydroxychloroquine has been politicized. Johnson doesn’t know if it works, but he thinks different theories should be explored.
Another study released yesterday showed hydroxychloroquine hasn’t helped sick coronavirus patients, and it might increase the risk of a heart attack.
Johnson doubts a vaccine will be widely available before the next flu season starts in the fall.
