At a time when only 10 people are allowed at funerals, veterans organized a “drive-by salute” for an Air Force hero from Door County.
Eighty-five year old Joseph Heilman died Friday.
Bill Forry is the commander of AMVETS post in Sturgeon Bay, and he says they needed to figure out a way to honor him.
A memorial was set up outside the funeral home, so veterans and others could drive by. The funeral home passed out masks, and some paused to salute.
Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay also lived-streamed the funeral on Facebook.
Heilman served 27 years in the Air Force, with tours in Vietnam, Japan, Korea, and Iran.
