A former Republican congressman says GOP lawmakers need to work with the governor on how to reopen the state.
Reid Ribble tells Fresh Take that Republican leaders in the Legislature should “actually help create, and finally once and for all, sit down as adults across from the governor” to put together a plan. He believes it should take into account the rural areas of the state, where people live two miles away from each other and are already social distancing.
Ribble says the state could start getting people back to work, by phasing in their returns, depending on their risk factors. He believes younger people could return first, and older people last. He thinks they should take a similar approach by reopening rural areas before urban ones.
Ribble believes states should be in charge of their own social distancing guidelines. He says Wisconsin is more rural than New York, so their reopening plans should be different.
