Governor Evers believes the state will meet the necessary benchmarks to start reopening slowly on May 26th.
He tells Action 2 News they’ll take steps thoughtfully, while following the science.
The governor met with Majority Republicans in the Legislature earlier this week, while the state Supreme Court debates a lawsuit over the “safer at home” order. He’s not ruling out letting some regions open sooner than others, but he says GOP lawmakers need to come up with a plan, instead of just talking about regionalism.
Evers is considering letting small retailers reopen before May 26th.
