A UW-Oshkosh researcher believes the “Jurassic Park” movies get it wrong by showing raptors as pack hunters.
Paleontologist Joseph Frederickson says he worked with two other scientists to study the chemicals in the fossilized teeth. He says baby raptors were eating something completely different from adults.
He says pack hunters typically bring food to their young, so they should would have the same chemicals in their teeth, from what they’re eating.
Frederickson points to lizards and crocodiles as modern-day examples of species that have to fend for themselves for food, right after they’re born.
Frederickson is the director of the Weis Earth Science Museum on the Fox Cities campus.
