Brown County Public Health is reporting 39 percent of confirmed coronavirus cases in the county are linked to the meatpacking industry.
Spokeswoman Claire Paprocki says that shows community spread is a bigger issue. She says it’s extremely important to know that COVID-19 isn’t an industry-specific issue, and that no single facility is responsible for the outbreak.
About 1,000 of the county’s 1,650 cases are not connected to meat plants.
Paprocki is concerned that all of the attention the plants are getting, is giving people an inaccurate picture of what’s really going on with community spread in the county.
