Oshkosh officials are concerned about a potential spike in homelessness after the “safer at home” order is over.
The state has a moratorium on evictions and it runs until May 26th. Common Council Member Lynnsey Erickson says people still have to pay their rent because landlords rely on that money.
The Day By Day Warming Shelter in Oshkosh is going to reopen next month and staffers anticipate more people will need a place to stay. The city might look at using an additional $500,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding to help people with their rent payments.
