COVID-19 is changing the types of calls Brown County Sheriff’s deputies are handling.
Capt. Dan Sandberg says they’ve seen a 200 percent jump in burglaries since the state of emergency took effect. He thinks that’s baffling, because people are at home more than ever, and thieves usually strike when no one’s around.
Sandberg says their accident calls are down more than half. He says state records show people are driving less, and they’re seeing the same thing.
Sandberg is disappointed the county has had two deadly alcohol-related crashes this year. There weren’t any in all of 2019.
