Governor Evers says there’s a reason he picked May 26 as the date for the extension of the “safer at home” order.
Majority Republicans in the Legislature are suing over that date arguing it exceeds his 60-day emergency order. Evers says the state needs time to see a decline in COVID-19 cases, expand testing and add more contact tracing.
He says if it happens earlier they could start scaling back the social distancing guidelines. Evers believes the state will be ready to dial back when its ready.
