UW-Oshkosh is going to furlough some of its workers while campus is closed.
Chancellor Andrew Leavitt says the move will impact year-round employees not currently working and it will run from May 4th through August 31st. People currently working remotely will have to take intermittent furlough days through June of next year.
Leavitt admits they don’t have anywhere else to save that money, and $6.2 million in federal funding for the stimulus package won’t cover all of their coronavirus-related expenses and losses.
Faculty will have to take their furloughs starting this fall.
UWO faces a budget shortfall of $4 million for this fiscal year.
