Eight groups are getting help through the latest round of grants from a COVID-19 Community Response Fund.
The Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region and United Way Fox Cities are collecting money to help nonprofits.
Tammy Geenen of the foundation says Pillars is getting $45,000 to make changes to help people practice social distancing at the two shelters in the Appleton area.
The Thompson Center on Lourdes in Appleton will use $10,000 to reach out to seniors, to prevent them from feeling isolated and lonely.
Smaller grants are going to Mosaic Family Health in Appleton, the food pantries in Brillion and Freedom, New Hope Center in Chilton, Little Angel Child Care in Appleton, and the Community Benefit Tree in Kaukauna.
