Health care workers in Wisconsin are catching coronavirus.
Sixteen percent of the confirmed cases in Wisconsin are doctors, nurses, support staff, paramedics, pharmacists, and dental workers.
The report from the state Department of Health Services doesn’t specify whether they got COVID-19 while on the job, or another way.
Secretary Andrea Palm says it’s one reason they set up a volunteer registry to see if workers are willing to help at other facilities. If there’s a shortage of workers, because some are sick, they can try to match people with similar skill sets.
Palm says the state also relaxed some rules to help former nurses, and ones from out-of-state, work in Wisconsin.
