A doctor for the state Department of Health Services says because they’re continuing to work with more labs, there shouldn’t be any limits on ordering tests for COVID-19.
The 20 labs that are available can run more than 3,700 tests every day.
Dr. Ryan Westergaard says they want to send the tests for the most serious cases to the state hygiene lab and the Milwaukee health department’s facility. Doctors can send all of the others to the private labs.
Westergaard admits to hearing concerns about shortages of some testing materials. But he says very few labs are reporting that the issues are impacting their output.
