If expecting moms are giving birth during the coronavirus pandemic, hospitals have extra protections in place.
Brandi Jo Cavegn is Ascension’s regional director of women and families, and she says only one visitor can be with the woman, during the delivery process. If all is well, she says mom and baby are sent home earlier than normal.
Cavegn says workers in the maternity units are prepared to help mothers, if they test positive for COVID-19, or have symptoms. The hospitals have rooms set aside, and they have additional equipment, in case that’s necessary.
