Local police are working with some businesses to determine if they’re actually essential.
Departments around northeast Wisconsin have been getting calls from people believing certain stores should be closed.
Appleton Police Capt. Todd Freeman says they look at what’s in the governor’s order, and how a specific business might fit. He says some might be selling a small percentage of essential items, but a much larger share of non-essential ones.
Freeman says after going over things with owners or managers, they haven’t had to take additional steps against any business.
