Domestic abuse agencies want victims to understand they’re still available to help during the pandemic.
Many advocates believe domestic violence is increasing, while people are forced to stay at home, and can’t get together with friends and family.
Beth Oswald of Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services in Oshkosh says victims should reach out to others. She says maybe even a neighbor can help, by telling them to call police if the victim makes a specific signal in a window.
Oswald says calls haven’t just increased, but the level of violence is up as well.
Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Shelter, Harbor House in Appleton, and Golden House in Green Bay have 24-hour help lines.
