State Department of Health Services Secretary Andrea Palm doesn’t want people to get discouraged about the rising coronavirus case numbers.
She expects them to continue to go up, until they can see the impact of the “safer at home” order. She says assuming everyone is following the guidelines well, it could still take several weeks before they’re able to start to see the results of the effort.
Palm says that’s because there’s a lag time between when someone catches COVID-19, they start showing symptoms, and they ultimately test positive.
Palm says today’s new confirmed cases are people who got coronavirus before the “safer at home” order.
