An advocacy group for seniors says scammers are using the coronvirus pandemic to try and steal money from people.
AARP State Director Sam Wilson says the latest scam involves the stimulus checks that are set to come from the federal government. He says they’re concerned about emails or calls from groups claiming they can help people get their checks earlier, by sending some money.
Wilson says scammers are also calling people asking for money to help find treatments or a cure for coronvirus.
