The state’s consumer protection agency is accusing 16 companies of price gouging.
They’re all getting cease and desist letters.
The businesses include Menards, Walmart, Walgreens, and Ace Hardware. N95sales.com is also accused of unfairly raising prices for N-95 masks.
The state agency says stores were charging more for things like toilet paper, hand cleaners, milk, and watermelons.
State law generally bans companies from increasing prices more than 15 percent. There are exceptions, if businesses are forced to pay more to get the products.
